How Flawless Pen Medical Needling Works

The Flawless Pen treatment stimulates the skin cells that are essential in good skin condition and skin repair. Flawless Pen stimulates your skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen, and can be used to improve the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles and other skin texture issues.

Collagen Induction Therapy

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), or medical needling, is the procedure by which the body’s natural response to healing is used to increase the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin by causing mini ‘injurys’.

Immediately following an injury, our skin begins the process of dissolving tissue damage and replacing it with new cells. Medical needling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair process by creating precise, micro injuries in the skin to automatically trigger new collagen synthesis without causing scar tissue formation. The micro injuries also create channels that allow skincare products to penetrate deeper into the skin, resulting in better product efficacy.

The benefits are, anti ageing, pigmentary and skin tone smoothness, hydration and oil balance and can improve scarring such as acne, chicken pox and stretch marks.

The depth of the Pen needles can be adjusted from .25 mm up to 2.5 mm in length. This allows the me to adjust treatments based on the your needs and area of treatment.

Treatment is virtually painless with very little side effects and takes 20-45 minutes.

Treatments are beneficial because new collagen production can reverse years of sun damage, improve the appearance of acne scars, stretch marks, and hyper-pigmentation, as well as enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.

One of the most exciting things is that the Flawless Pen can be used on all types of skin, on all skin colours, and can address a wide range of problems such as acne scars, stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles.

Flawless Pen’s variable needle depth allows for versatility and therefore it can be used on many parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen and back.

The total healing time depends on the severity of the damaged skin, the depth of repair process required, and how aggressive the treatment is performed. Most patients have some slight swelling and redness/pinkness (like a mild sunburn) for 2-4 days. Some patients may heal completely in a couple of hours.

Many patients notice healthier looking skin immediately. However, the natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks. Keep in mind dermal collagen remodeling takes place over four weeks. Damage that has occurred over an extensive period of time won’t disappear immediately. You may not see the final result for up to 3-6 months following your final session.

The number of treatments required will be determined at a consultation based upon your individual treatment goals and the health of your skin. Sometimes clients see benefits with just one session. Most patients receive a series of 3 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart. For patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks or acne scars, 3-4 sessions at 4-6 week intervals are usually recommended. I will develop a maintenance plan to help maintain the rejuvenating effects.

You can use any product line of your choice about 2-3 days after treatments. Please consult your skincare professional on which products will best aid in achieving optimal results.

Patients typically can resume their normal makeup regimen 2-3 days following their treatment depending on the area and type of treatment performed.

Flawless Pen is not recommended for pregnant women because the micro needles produce micro injuries to the skin, which naturally causes a repair process to begin. This healing process and production of new collagen requires vitamins and nutrients to be utilized that would otherwise be reserved for the unborn child.

Flawless Pen should not be used in patients with history of keloid scars, scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases, cardiac abnormalities, hemorrhagic disorders, hemostatic dysfunction or an active bacterial or fungal infection.
